TONY FARLEY

Executive Director, CCER

Tony Farley joined CCER as the Executive Director in 2008, bringing with him a wealth of experience in employment relations and leadership roles. Previously the Director, Workforce Development for the South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service, he has also held senior positions in the NSW Department of Health.  Tony has also worked for a federal member of parliament, the ACT Government and two unions.

Tony regularly speaks and writes about a broad range of employment relations matters, along with ethical issues affecting workplaces today.  Tony often blogs on Church and social issues, tackling the modern dilemmas of a modern culture.  He currently hosts CCER’s Faith at Work Dialogues, which are public discussions with prominent Australians designed to stimulate debate on how our personal beliefs intersect with our professional lives. He is actively involved in the Catholic community, and is a board member of the Catholic Cemeteries, CatholicCare Sydney Remuneration Committee and the plenary council working group for the Archdiocese of Sydney.

In 2018 Tony became Director of Parish 2020 – a five-year-long project focusing on supporting thriving, sustainable church communities within the Archdiocese of Sydney.  The initial stages of the project have Tony visiting each of the 138 parishes, consulting at length with priests and the wider church community.

The Catholic Commission for Employment Relations (CCER) provides workplace advice to a variety of Catholic organisations throughout the state in education, aged care, social services and Church administration.  More than a quarter of a million students attend Catholic schools in NSW, supported by 22,600 teachers and staff*.  Catholic agencies across the state also provide a variety of crucial supports for elderly, disabled and disadvantaged people.  CCER advises and represents the organisations that support these communities.
